The Mississippi Law Enforcement Officer’s Association will be hosting its annual conference on May 28 through June 1, 2014. The conference will address several training areas, one of which will be Officer Survival training.  This course will be broken up into half day seminars that will consist of the following:

Wednesday, May 28-Use of Force

A. Officers will cover the Use of Force continuum which presents guidelines as to the degree of force appropriate in a given situation.

B. Classroom and Scenario base training will be used in teaching this course.

Thursday, May 29-Arrest & Control & Tactical Communication

A. Officers will cover Arrest & Control techniques that will help ensure public safety as well as officer safety under any circumstances.

B. Officers will learn effective communication skills that can aid in officer safety, problem solving and improved relationships with the public.

C. Classroom and Scenario base training will be used in teaching this course.

Friday, May 30-Traffic Stops

A. Officers conduct traffic stops every day of there career. In this course officers will cover all steps needed while conducting a traffic stop, for there safety and the public.

B. Field and Scenario base training will be used in teaching this course.

Saturday, May 31-Building Entry and Search

A. Officers will learn how to inter a building alone or with a 2, 3 or 4 man team.  Once inside officers will learn how to search a building in light and low light conditions. Officers will achieve a balance of search speed, consistency and safety while searching a building.

B. Field and Scenario base training will be used in teaching this course.

The first segment will immediately follow the Legal Updates course on Wednesday.  All other segments will be conducted from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM each day.
